Dalry / Gorgie
Affordable, authentic, and closer to the action than people realise
About Dalry / Gorgie
Dalry Road and Gorgie Road aren't glamorous, but they're real. The area has longstanding working-class roots and still feels like somewhere Edinburghers rather than the tourist industry live. Tynecastle Stadium (Hearts FC) is a neighbourhood landmark. The Union Canal towpath provides excellent cycling west towards Ratho and east towards the centre. There's good bus access in every direction. The housing is mostly smaller tenements — less grand than Victorian counterparts elsewhere but decent value, often well-maintained. As gentrification pressure pushes west from Tollcross, Dalry/Gorgie is the smart early mover's area.
